My training style of martial arts changed in between the years of 1996-1997.

• Began training with 6th degree black belt Jearl Sutherland in Wytheville Virginia. He trained me for several years and still presently trains me in a blend of techniques from the style of Mauy Thai Boxing and kickboxing. His instructor is Surachai “Chai” Sirisute and Kickboxer Joe Lewis. I was affiliated with Mr. Sutherland for ten years and throughout the years he has promoted me to my 2nd and 3rd degree black belt.

• Mr. Sutherland is the representative for the Thai Boxing Association of the United States for West Virginia and Virginia. Mr. Sutherland also trains me in stick (kali) and knife and is certified as a Combat Technologies Bowie Knife Instructor.

• Asa Herring a 4th degree black belt in Shotokan karate has also trained me in fighting for 8 years. Because my background is strongest in karate this is the system I use for my martial arts school.

• Ric Anderton 3rd degree in Judo also worked with me beginning in August of 1997 in throwing. IN this same year of 1997, Asa and Ric both introduced me to the United States Sport Jujitsu Team Head Coach, Ernie Boggs and I was invited to tryout for Team USA scheduled to fight for the Wally Jay Cup in Vancouver Canada of 1998.

• 1998 won 2nd place in the North Carolina Sport Jujitsu Championships

• 1998, Feather Weight Fighter for Team USA/Gold Medal Winner

• 1999 Graduated with Bachelor’s in Psychology, enrolled in a Master’s of Science program for Physical Education concentrating in Sport Psychology. Therefore, I was not able to train as hard or compete

• 2000 had to stop competing for a while in order to concentrate on my studies and commuting back and forth from UVA for two semesters. Graduated in 2001.

• Have been presently teaching a blend of martial arts techniques from several different martial arts styles such as Kickboxing, Shotokan karate, Judo, Grappling, and Sport Jujitsu for several years at my own school (Kwik Kix Martial Arts & Fitness, LLC).

• 2006 brought several students to Jacksonville Florida to tryout for the United States Sport Jujitsu Team

• 2006 Hosted our first Sport Jujitsu Tournament in Wytheville VA
